While one sister fills arenas, the other is making sure people can actually hear the music.
Witney Jasmin, the older sister of Tyla, has officially taken a major step in her career, announcing that she is opening her own audiology practice.
Jasmin recently shared the news on social media, expressing her excitement about the milestone.
“You can call me Private Practice Owner 💕👩🏽⚕️,” her caption read.
On TikTok, she also gave her followers a glimpse into the office space she will be working from once the practice officially opens, marking a new chapter in a journey she has been building over the years.
This step is a continuation of the work she’s already been doing behind the scenes.
Jasmin has always kept a relatively low profile compared to her younger sisters, who are already in the limelight; however, her impact has been just as meaningful, working in a field focused on helping people with hearing loss.
Born and raised in Johannesburg, the 26-year-old initially had very different plans for her future. She once dreamed of becoming an astronomer and working for NASA, a reflection of her early love for science and educational subjects.
After finishing school at Edenglen High, she enrolled at the University of the Witwatersrand to study a Bachelor of Science before eventually transitioning into audiology, the field in which she would go on to graduate in April 2024.
That passion for her work has been clear from the start. On World Audiologists Day in 2024, Jasmin summed up her purpose in a way that resonated with Tyla’s fans online
“Giving people back their ability to hear so they can listen to my sister’s music,” she wrote.
Beyond her profession, Jasmin’s life reflects a balance of curiosity and simplicity.
She has described herself as someone who has always been active, with interests that range from cooking to spending time outdoors; her social media feed is proof of that.
The audiologist developed a love for cooking at just 13, learning to make spaghetti bolognese from her mother, and now counts tacos among her favourite meals, which she proudly says she makes “heavenly.”
She also enjoys crime documentaries, sci-fi films and shorter series, leaning towards content she can get through without long commitments.
When she’s not working, she prefers nature-filled activities like picnics and hikes over nightlife, and is known to be a tea enthusiast with an entire collection at home.
