The popular and iconic steam train and tourism attraction will run between Mossel Bay and George on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (and every day except Sundays and Christmas Day between December 14 to January 9 2010).
The service was suspended for a while for necessary maintenance.
Mossel Bay Tourism's Marcia Holm said she was delighted that the service would be resumed in time for the summer holidays.
The chairman of Mossel Bay Tourism, Neels Zietsman, said the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe had suffered a serious setback when floods had damaged the George-Knysna line some years ago.
You can buy tickets for the Choo Tjoe from Mossel Bay Tourism, or from the Choo Tjoe at the Outeniqua Transport Museum in George. The price is R140 one-way and R' return and you pass through some of the country's most beautiful scenery en route.
The train leaves George at 10am, arrives in Mossel Bay at noon, departs at 2.15pm and arrives in George at 4.10pm.
