Cape Town - The mother of 18-month-old Jeremiah Ruiters and her boyfriend appeared in court on Wednesday in connection with the murder of the toddler in Kensington, Cape Town.
Abigail Ruiters, 30, and her 26-year-old boyfriend Ameeruddien Peters made a brief appearance in the Cape Town Magistrates' court.
It is alleged that Peters beat and stabbed Jeremiah before taking him to the Kensington clinic on Monday, where he was declared dead on arrival.
He had serious head and body injuries, including stab wounds to his neck and arms.
Ruiters, who is six months pregnant with her fourth child, will face a charge of child neglect.
Ruiters' father Pastor Ronald Ruiters spoke to the Daily Voice outside the court.
