Tyla made a confident entrance at the 57th NAACP Image Awards, proving once again that she doesn’t need to overdo it to command attention.
The Johannesburg-born star stepped onto the blue carpet at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 28, wearing a sleek black dress that leaned into simplicity.
The body hugging dress featured thick straps and a u-shaped neckline, creating a clean and confident look that allowed her Christian Louboutin Rosalie Jewel heels detail to stand out clearly.
The embellished sandals, which have circulated widely on TikTok in recent months, have become a fashion fixation thanks to their crystal detailing and sculptural strap.
The ankle-length cut of her dress allowed just enough visibility for the shoes to catch the light as she walked.
She completed the look with a Jacob & Co statement diamond choker that is reported to be worth $4.2 million (roughly R67m), along with matching teardrop earrings, estimated to be $3 million (roughly R48m).
Her hair was styled in and a messy bun with a side fringe.
The appearance followed her win for Outstanding International Song. Tyla became the first South African to win an NAACP Image Award, taking home the prize for her song, "Is It".
The majority of the 57th NAACP Image Awards winners were announced prior to the main televised event that was held on Saturday, February 28.
The awards were presented over a week-long series of virtual events and special ceremonies leading up to the live show.
Meanwhile, Tyla also hung out with stars like Kerry Washington, who snapped photos with the singer. Washington mentioned she couldn't wait to show the pictures to her daughter.
Tyla also had a fan girl moment during her interview with actress Kyla Pratt, who Tyla was visibly excited to meet.
The recognition adds to a growing list of international milestones as she continues to push her "popiano" sound into global spaces.
