"It's approaching ten years of me being a DJ. I felt like it was time to challenge myself with something that would not only test me as a person but as an artist," said award-winning DJ and producer DBN Gogo.

"I’ve been getting into eventing of late, and trying to create a different type of experience for my supporters has been at the top of my list. I never do things because I want to be the first to achieve something, but more as a test of how far I can take myself."

"How can I be better than I was the day before? How can I build on my legacy? What kind of impact do I want to leave in the future?"

Gogo is set to make history as the first female DJ in South Africa to perform a 24-hour set. The marathon performance will take place from midnight on Saturday, April 4, through to midnight on Sunday, April 5.

The landmark event reflects not only her personal ambition but her commitment to pushing boundaries for women in the music industry.

"I want people to understand me, where I came from and where I’m going," she continued.

"A lot of people don’t know me from before I started playing amapiano. I want them to see what influenced me to even begin DJing. I also want the strongest soldiers to stay the course with me. It’s really going to be quite the experience."

Musically, fans can expect a wide-ranging set.

"You can expect everything from deep house to piano, afro house and tech," DBN Gogo explained.

"Who knows, we might even throw in some hip hop piano,” she said, laughing.

“We start at midnight, so the mood will be high. I want to carry that until the early hours, where we wind down and bring back all our favourite nostalgia. All the best daytime tunes will set the tone for the night show again before the close. I want to tell a story."

For Gogo, this event is not just about endurance; it is a statement.

"I want women to always challenge themselves, always move the needle, disrupt the status quo and do the things everyone thinks we cannot do," she said.

Her vision is to inspire others to pursue creative risks while maintaining artistic integrity.

The 24-hour set will not be a solitary journey. Gogo will collaborate with leading DJs across select moments, creating a dynamic, high-energy experience. This approach reinforces her philosophy that music is a communal experience.

"I’m beyond excited to make history with this 24-hour set, and I want everyone to be part of this journey with me. Let’s dance, celebrate and create unforgettable memories together, from the first beat to the very last. This isn’t just a DJ set; it’s a marathon of music, energy and community."

Doors open on Friday at 10pm, with the set officially beginning at midnight. Further details on venue, ticketing and supporting acts will be shared in due course.
