From live music to plant shows: top events in Joburg this weekend

Some of Mzansi’s hottest acts are set to tear up the stage at the latest edition of this popular event.

The platform was founded by DJ and producer Shimza (real name Ashley Raphala) in 2020. Kunye, which means "together" in isiXhosa, aims to bring artists and fans together in celebration of South African electronic music.

This year’s line-up will include international acts such as Alex Wann, Awen and Manoo from France.

Local artists who will perform will be Demzabeats, Jazzworx, Mentusik, Mpho.Wav, TenOceans, The Darque Experience, Dwsn and Baby Whitz.

Where: Huddle Park in Linksfield.

When: Saturday, November 8, from noon.

The Houghton Bonsai and Succulent Show

Some of the finest bonsai, succulents, orchids and other rare plants will be showcased at this annual exhibition.

There will also be displays as well as workshops, demonstrations, live entertainment and a kids' play.

Where: Killarney Mall.

When: Friday, November 7, until Sunday, November 9, from 9am to 4pm on all days.

The Sky Tonight 

Youngsters and adults are invited to enjoy this live planetarium presentation, which will allow attendees to explore the current night sky. It will also feature summer constellations and deep-sky objects.

Where: The Digital Dome at Wits University

When: Friday, September 7, at 7pm and Saturday, November 8, at 12.30pm.
