This weekend promises to be an unforgettable experience for Durbanites, featuring a tapestry of events that celebrate music, community spirit and environmental awareness. 

Durban City Orchestra in Concert

Music-lovers have an opportunity to listen to the Durban City Orchestra (DCO) perform at an afternoon concert. 

The DOC will perform a captivating programme of striking melodies from Mozart, Coleridge-Taylor and Mussorgsky, along with the debut of a new Spring overture.

The concert will also showcase the talents of Tsepho Ntswelengwe, who will perform the Mozart Horn Concerto. 

Where: NG Kerk Umhlanga, 34 Herrwood Dr, Herrwood Park. 

When: Saturday, May 17, at 3pm.

"Hope For Ahana"

A cast of performers will entertain audiences in a fundraising effort for Baby Ahana who was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma at just 19 months old. The money raised will go towards her life-saving treatment in the USA. 

On the line-up are singers Shashika Mooruth, Preetesh Sing, the Saraswathi Shainaaz Band and a dance performance by Vande Mataram Productions.

The event will be emceed by radio personality Zakia Ahmed Siddiqui

"Umhlaba Uyalila" (The Earth is Weeping)

This production is the latest offering by the second-year drama students at the Durban University of Technology.

It takes a stylised and evocative look at climate change, drought, global warming, erratic floods, irresponsible waste practices and plastic pollution. 

Where: Courtyard Theatre at the Durban University of Technology.

Winter Garden Fair 2025

The third annual Winter Garden Fair is almost here.

This year, a selection of growers, nurseries, retailers, garden product suppliers, manufacturers, landscapers and those involved in the garden industry have been invited to showcase their wares and services in a farm-type setting catering for those with a tiny green space, patio, window box or indoor garden; to those with larger properties and subsistence farmers.  

Where: Vuleka Centre, Botha’s Hill.

When: May 24 -25 from 8.30am.
