Craig Lucas turns up the heat this Pride Month with a fearless new release featuring steamy visuals

With the month of June in full force, the global LGBTQ+ community comes alive to celebrate Pride Month, and South African singer-songwriter Craig Lucas is joining in on the festivities with a daring new single “F#ck Boy” which dropped earlier this month. 

Known for his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, Lucas continues to solidify his status in the South African music scene with this daring, unapologetic release.

Embracing audacity, Lucas has chosen to pair the single with a series of eye-catching visuals that are making waves across social media platforms. 

His promotional posts leading up to the release have been playful yet bold, setting the tone for his latest creation.

“We made the queer pop-punk song of your wettest dreams,” he teased on May 28. 

By June 2, he shared: “In honour of global pride month @_cubbi and I cooked up the gayest, punkest sexiest song I’ve ever been a part of.”

On the day of the release, he celebrated, stating, “It’s OFFICIALLY F#CK BOY SZN! This one is for the gays and the gals, the theys and thems, and everyone else in between with taste.”

Lucas' cheeky marketing campaign has continued to attract attention and spark curiosity, featuring playful claims of being spotted in scandalous situations alongside various LGBTQ+ icons.

He hyped his audience with lively updates, including a comedic “gossip alert” about being caught in compromising positions - all while amping up anticipation for the single’s debut. 

More than just a catchy title and bold visuals, Lucas’s journey toward this moment is noteworthy. 

Six years ago, he candidly shared his struggles with identity in a revealing letter to friends and family, detailing experiences of depression and battles with maintaining authenticity in a conservative music scene.

“I was glad I listened to them,” he reflected on winning “The Voice SA” while concealing his true self. Yet, despite his success, he continued grappling with mental health challenges until he embraced his identity fully in 2016.  

Today, Lucas uses his platform to empower others in the LGBTQIA+ community to embrace visibility and authenticity.

“The days of hiding away, shrinking ourselves to make others comfortable are gone. Take up space. Be visible. Be unapologetic,” he encouraged.
