Kanye West is once again making headlines, this time with a name change that has left fans scratching their heads.

The rapper, who previously rebranded himself as "Ye" in 2021, has officially changed his name to "Ye Ye," according to legal documents filed in a California court.

This revelation came to light through Page Six, following filings by his chief financial officer, Hussein Lalani.

As part of the updates submitted to the California Secretary of State, which oversees essential business information, it appears that one of West's major companies has altered its reference to him in official documents.

Ye's brands - most notably the fashion label Yeezy Apparel, along with his production outfits Keezy Record Label and Getting Out Dreams - are now using the new moniker "Ye Ye" in their filings.

Despite the legal documentation now reflecting this change, the 48-year-old artist has yet to issue a public confirmation regarding his new name.

In previous interviews, West has expressed the significance of the name "Ye," describing it as a reflection of collective identity: "In the Bible, it means 'you.' So, I'm you, I'm us … I wanted something that felt with the energy," he shared in a 2018 interview with radio host Big Boy.

His evolving name doesn't appear to be the only topic generating buzz. Earlier this month, West announced on the X platform that he would cease using his original Twitter handle @kanyewest, stating simply, "Ima finally stop using the @kanyewest Twitter cause my name is Ye. Gonna start a ye account and it is what it is."

The new name change report has ignited a flurry of reactions from users, with many questioning his stability and purpose behind the change.

One skeptical user remarked, "Make up your mind. This only reinforces people's opinion that something's wrong with you."

Humour found its way into the conversation too, with others jokingly speculating whether West was attempting to break into the Chinese market or predicted that his name would eventually be reduced to a symbol.

This latest name change comes amid a whirlwind of controversy surrounding West, including his recent release of the music video for “Heil Hitler”.

The provocative track features striking imagery and controversially graphic lyrics about his new wife, Bianca Censori, and even extends its reach into his strained relationship with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, regarding their children.
