Dawn Thandeka King is back on “Isitha: The Enemy”, and the timing could not be messier for the people who thought their secrets were safe.
The actress has officially returned as Nomcebo Ngwenya, stepping back into the e.tv telenovela just as the cracks around Mbuso’s death are starting to show.
According to “Times Live”, Nomcebo does not return quietly or emotionally softened by time away. She comes back alert, suspicious and unwilling to accept the version of events she is being fed.
Mbuso’s death has left too many loose ends, and her presence immediately shifts the mood. Conversations become tense. Silences feel louder. People who were getting comfortable are not.
Chuma, already spiralling under guilt, finds himself under more pressure. The lies he has been clinging to start to feel thinner, especially as Nomcebo pushes for answers others would rather avoid.
Around him, everyone seems to be performing calmly while quietly panicking.
Then there is Zandile, whose attempts to control the fallout only raise more questions. When rituals meant to honour Mbuso are blocked, it becomes harder to believe this is about protection and not fear.
The decision to stage Mbuso’s death as a suicide might have been meant to close the story, but instead it opens up a new one that is filled with suspicion, doubt and people watching each other a little too closely.
King’s return to the beloved telenovela follows the cancellation of “Black Gold”, the BET Africa telenovela that was cut short after the channel’s shutdown was confirmed in 2025.
BET Africa officially ended on January 1, 2026, with the channel fast-tracking the final episodes of “Black Gold” by airing double episodes to wrap up the story.
The cancellation reportedly came as a shock to cast and crew, with production ending earlier than expected as Paramount Global scaled back its African TV operations.
