More than 5,000 delegates, including South Africans, attended the Online Trading Expo 2026 in Hong Kong this week, marking one of the largest gatherings of fintech, trading and investment leaders this year.
The event, hosted by Online Trading Expo, featured over 60 exhibitors and speakers from 15 countries, including executives from Bloomberg, Standard Chartered, BNP Paribas, KuCoin, IBM Consulting and the New York Stock Exchange.
South Africa was represented on the main stage by Justin Harrison, whose inclusion highlighted the growing role of South African voices in the global fintech and trading sector.
Representing his platform, MoneyTribe21, Harrison participated in a high-level panel discussion titled “Expecting the Unexpected: Geopolitics, Markets & the Road Ahead”, where global experts unpacked the impact of geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty and rapidly evolving financial markets.

“Being invited to speak alongside some of the world’s leading financial institutions and fintech innovators was both an honour and a reflection of how far South African traders and entrepreneurs have come on the global stage,” said Harrison.
He said the conversations at the expo reflected the increasing need for adaptability and innovation within the financial sector as markets continue to evolve globally.
“The financial world is changing rapidly. Traders, investors and entrepreneurs need to be equipped not only with technical knowledge, but also with discipline, emotional intelligence and long-term strategy,” he said.
Harrison also highlighted the importance of African representation within global financial spaces, stating that emerging markets continue to play a growing role in shaping international investment conversations.
“It’s important that African voices are part of these global discussions shaping the future of finance, technology and online trading. There is incredible talent and innovation coming from South Africa and the continent as a whole,” he added.
Over the years, Harrison has built a reputation within the trading and entrepreneurial sector through his focus on trader psychology, education and disciplined investing.
His appearance at the expo was seen by many in the South African business community as another sign of local entrepreneurs gaining recognition on influential international platforms.
