La Splendida in Mouille Point is across the road from the sea and the famous promenade that stretches up to Sea Point.
Noordhoek beach probably doesn't count as an out-of-town getaway but it is always deserted - everyone's at the Foodbarn, eating.
Experiencing life in a city between a mountain and the sea is what attracts many tourists to Cape Town.
