The South African entertainment industry is in mourning following the untimely death of legendary actress Michelle Botes, who passed away at the age of 62.

Her agent, Suzi Howes, announced that Botes passed away on Sunday, leaving behind a legacy that has profoundly touched the arts and entertainment landscape in the nation.

Renowned for her unforgettable role as Cherel de Villiers in the SABC3 soap opera Isidingo, Botes carved a niche in the hearts of South African viewers through her remarkable performances.

Her recent work in the Netflix film Jewel further showcased her versatility, confirming her as one of the prominent figures in the industry.

Botes’ illustrious career spanned various beloved productions, including her roles as Tannie Alet in Bakgat! II and Elzabe in Aangetroud. Her portrayal of Ingrid Louw-Koster in Binnelanders also remains a testament to her immense talent and dedication to her craft.

The outpouring of tributes from peers and fans highlights the indelible mark she has left on South Africa’s entertainment industry.
