Mzansi Magic is set to take South African viewers on an intimate exploration of the lives of the Zungu family, the celebrated gospel powerhouses of KwaZulu-Natal, in its new reality show, Thinah singoZungu.

Award-winning gospel singer Thinah Zungu, alongside his family, offers a captivating look at their journey navigating faith, fame, and fortune amid the demanding expectations of their Christian community.

Set against the vibrant backdrops of iTheku (Durban), eNanda, and Umhlanga, Thinah singoZungu carefully contrasts the family’s roots in township pride with their aspirations for suburban luxury.

Viewers will be introduced to the dynamics of their extraordinary lives, reflecting both their spiritual commitments and earthly desires.

At the heart of this enthralling reality series is Thinah Zungu, a pastor whose deep Christian values coexist with a penchant for a lavish lifestyle. Having ascended from humble beginnings in a shack to now residing in a mansion, Thinah embraces his success, adorned in designer clothing and maintaining a high-profile social circle.

Yet, this wealth does not come without its critics. Thinah’s journey defies conventional norms, tackling the scrutiny that comes with living in the spotlight.

Alongside him is his fierce wife, Zama, affectionately known as uMaMtshali or Landlord. Also a pastor, Zama is stepping into her role while ensuring their home is a haven for their three children—Ndumiso, Smanga, and Olwethu.

Each child embarks on their personal path of self-discovery, as the eldest, Ndumiso, grapples with the responsibilities of being the family breadwinner. His siblings, meanwhile, strive to forge their individual identities in the shadow of their family’s stringent religious expectations.

Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, expressed her enthusiasm for the show, stating, “We are thrilled to be bringing this reality show to Mzansi Magic where viewers will get a unique and powerful glimpse into the life of this exceptional family. Theirs is a story of a family navigating the high stakes of fame while staying grounded in their faith, and we hope it will resonate with Mzansi viewers.”

The show will air on February 2025 promising music and a powerful story of a family trying to balance and maintain Christian values while dealing with fame.
