Music, arts, craft will lead the family-friendly Jazzy Joburg Market roof-top experience at the swanky Sandton City rooftop on September 29.

Speaking to The Star ahead of the much-anticipated Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, festival organiser Mantwa Chinoamadi said Jazzy Joburg Market is a family-friendly platform offering local businesses and creatives the opportunity to shine.

As part of the Joy of Jazz experience, the day-long Jazzy Joburg Market will empower SMMEs and individuals involved in arts and crafts to benefit through stall exhibitions and the showcasing and sale of their products, including handmade crafts, artisanal goods, and delicious food, highlighting Johannesburg’s entrepreneurial and artistic spirit.

“Jazzy Joburg Market is a space that offers families a chilled and laid-back music and arts experience which can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. It gives craft makers and musicians a platform to showcase and exhibit their artistry.

“We realised there is a space for craft artists to exhibit their works in a family-inspired where parents can bring their kids as there is a kids area for children to also enjoy themselves as we are winding out the Joy of Jazz festival. It is a great opportunity to wind down the jazz festival weekend,” Chinoamadi said.

The veteran organiser said the event was the perfect space to support local talent while enjoying the city’s best offerings where music meets food, fashion and craft.

“The Jazzy Joburg Market made a grand return last year, bringing the energy, creativity, and community spirit back with a bang. This year won’t be any different – it will be bigger, better, and an experience not to be missed.

“We are proud to partner with the Joburg Tourism Company to continue supporting local businesses and offer an unforgettable day for families, music lovers and shoppers alike,” she said.

Brenda Mtambo, Morda and many others are set to perform.

Chinoamadi said T Musicman, the company behind Joy of Jazz and Jazzy Joburg Market, was always looking to expand its footprint.

“Our intention is to extend the spin-off of the Joy of Jazz festival, and this event is one of the many ways we are trying to extend the work done by Joy of jazz. We also want to extend this event beyond what it is now,” she said.
