Part of being a girly girl is getting your nails done and, just like glass skin, the glass nail is currently the most trending.

When you log in on TikTok, most women are raving about how classy glass nails are. This is because businesswoman Kylie Jenner once posted a picture of her almond-shaped glass nails on TikTok, and everyone loved them.

Since then, many people have recreated glass nails in different shapes.

As we are living in challenging economic times, most women have learned how to do their nails because beauty on a budget is a thing.

And if you are one of those girls, here’s how to achieve Jenner’s DIY nails.

Identify your unique style

Depending on your work, you can go for short or long nails. For example, short nails are great for people whose jobs require them to type, while long nails are great for content creators and sometimes beauticians.

The shape is also important because an almond tends to be lighter, while the square is usually crisp.

Follow all the steps to apply

Applying press on nails seems easy but for them to last like acrylic nails, you must follow the correct steps.

Prep your nails: Start by trimming your nails to your desired shape and gently push back your cuticles with a cuticle pusher before lightly filing the skin around your nail bed.

Shape your nails with a file and buff them to create a smooth surface. This step is crucial for optimal adhesion.

Cleanse your nails: Before applying the press-ons, thoroughly clean your nails with soap and water, alcohol-based nail polish remover, or cleansing wipes.

This removes any oil or residue that could interfere with the adhesive. Apply a hydrator and sticky bond to make sure your press-on nails stay longer.

Customise your press-ons: After applying your press-on nails, gently file them before applying a thin layer of the base coat and then cure for 60 seconds. Apply a thin layer of white gel polish and then cure for 60 seconds.

Repeat the step at least two twice, and then clean your nails with rubbing alcohol to remove any stickiness.

Gently buff the nails and then apply a thin layer of base coat, followed by shimmer/ clear chrome.

Cure for 30 seconds and then apply a top coat to seal and cure for 60 seconds, and you’ll have the glass effect nails. Don’t forget to apply cuticle oil on your cuticles.
