Durbanites can warm up their vocal cords to sing along to their favourite Roxette songs as the Swedish pop rock group make their way to Durban in 2025 for their live concert.
Originally, the group was only scheduled to perform in Cape Town and Pretoria, but due to the high demand for a concert in Durban, the event organisers decided to add another date to the tour.
The iconic band will serenade Durban fans on March 1 at the Durban International Convention Centre.
Roxette consist of songwriter and founder Per Gessle, Christoffer Lundquist, Magnus Börjeson, Magnus “Norpan” Eriksson, Dea Norberg as well as original Roxette icons, Clarence Öfwerman and Jonas Isacsson.
Talented Swedish singer Lena Philipsson will replace former Roxette’s lead vocalist Marie Fredriksson, who died of cancer five years ago.
The “It Must Have Been Love” hitmakers will be at the Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town on February 26, 2025, and the SunBet Arena in Time Square in Pretoria on February 28, 2025.
“This concert is all about my Roxette songs, this huge bundle of music and lyrics I’ve been writing for well over three decades.
“I co-wrote Lena’s first major hit back in 1986 and she’s one of the brightest shining stars Sweden has ever known.
“I’m extremely proud she wants to join me in my trek to keep the Roxette legacy alive,” Gessle said via a statement.
The group have for decades serenaded fans with their acclaimed hits such as “How Do You Do”, “Fading Like A Flower” and “Joyride”, among other chart-topping hits.
Tickets for the new Durban date will go on sale to the general public at 9am on Thursday, August 8, at Ticketmaster or at www.bigconcerts.co.za.
