Award-winning media personality Carol Ofori may just add another feather to her cap later this year at the 2024 African Podcast and Voice Awards (APVA).

The seasoned radio and TV presenter has been nominated for her podcast, “The Carol Ofori Podcast”, along with some of the best podcasters in Africa in the lifestyle and entertainment category.

The APVA Awards is dedicated to recognising outstanding talent across the continent. The awards highlight and celebrate the achievements of African voice talents while providing a platform for education, motivation, and mentorship.

Ofori’s podcast, which is just over a year old, has captured its audience with engaging content, insightful interviews, and thought-provoking discussions.

It features a dynamic mix of seasoned professionals such as Tol A$$ Mo and his wife MoMe, slain rapper AKA’s parents, Lynn and Tony Forbes, and iconic Olympian Caster Semenya to name a few.

“The Carol Ofori Podcast” will be up against other esteemed podcasts across Africa, such as “African Couch Potato”, “My Bukka Adventure”, “Bioscope Brass”, “In My Voice Podcast” and “The Spectrum Podcast”.

Through a statement, Ofori said: “Being nominated for an APVA is an incredible honour. This nomination is a testament to the hard work and dedication we put into creating content that resonates with our listeners.

“It's a celebration of all the amazing stories and insights shared by our guests. I'm thrilled to be part of this journey and grateful for the support of our listeners.”

“Thank you Diane Macpherson - head of content at KMR and @eastcoastradio 😍😍😍Congratulations to all my fellow nominees ❤️.”

With a career spanning over 20 years, Ofori has achieved numerous accolades and notable experiences.

In 2023, Carol received a prestigious Society of Voice Artists and Sciences (SOVAS ) award, often dubbed the “Oscar for voices”.

She won the international award in the Outstanding Commercial- Radio or Streaming- Best African Voiceover category.

At the time she said: “Winning this award feels surreal. I can’t believe that a little old me all the way in Durban South Africa is winning an international award. I really am humbled and I am still pinching myself.”

Previous SOVAS winners include Viola Davis, Tisha Campbell, Sigourney Weaver, Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett, Kit Harrington and Kristin Wiig among others.

The 2024 APVA Awards will take place on September 27 and 28, ahead of International Podcast Day, under the theme “King of The Game”.

“This theme is a recognition of the hard work, the late nights, the endless edits, and the courage to tell stories that matter. We aim to spotlight the trailblazers who’ve led the way, the innovators who are redefining what’s possible, and the emerging talents that are the future of our industry.

“Every nominee, every participant, embodies the essence of ‘King of The Game’, demonstrating resilience in the face of challenges, creativity in storytelling, and leadership that inspires a new generation,” said organisers.
