Rising recording artist Nanteg is making waves with her latest single, “Imake”.

The stirring anthem celebrates African uniqueness and the capacity for internal economic growth.

Through the song, the singer conveys a message of empowerment and self-assurance.

She said the inspiration came from a personal event and her rural Zimbabwean heritage.

“At its core, ‘Imake’ is a song about one's ability to make money and the confidence to do so.

“I wrote the song after an argument with my sister who is in the diaspora. She believed that moving abroad meant making more money, but I strongly felt that as Africans, we have the resources and resilience to thrive wherever we are,” Nanteg said.

In the accompanying music video, Nanteg shows off the richness of African culture, showcasing traditional wealth symbols like houses and Nkone cattle.

“I wanted to convey that making money is not just about the American dream, it's about embracing our African heritage and aspirations.

“The decorated huts symbolise pride and aspiration for young women, while cattle represent traditional symbols of wealth within our communities.”

Nanteg worked with producers Jeremiah and Audius to create a sound that speaks to her rural Zimbabwean origins.

“Drums are central to our cultural celebrations and rituals, so incorporating them into the music was essential for me. My background serves as the canvas on which I paint my sound.”

After releasing “Legend” and “Hallelujah”, Nanteg’s third single, “Imake”, introduces listeners to her distinct musical approach.

“I hope people can embrace the authenticity and diversity in my music,” she said.

With her new track fast gaining momentum, Nanteg is preparing to release another.

Set for release later this month, Nanteg said her much-anticipated new song, “Everywhere and Everything”, promised to showcase her versatility as a recording artist.

“I'm excited to surprise listeners with the visuals and sound. Expect something special.”
