The Zip Zap Circus returns to Cape Town with the latest acrobatic wonder, "Kaleidoscope“.

This high-energy, family-friendly show is set to showcase the exceptional talent that the organisation has become renowned for. Audiences will be taken on a magical journey, with stunning displays of acrobatics, dazzling colours and exciting music.

The performers, drawn from Zip Zap’s Zappers and Dare2Dream programmes, are a courageous cast of ordinary kids doing extraordinary things.

“You will be amazed with their trapeze acts, juggling, scarf performances and handstands, all set to incredible music,” the organisers said.

The Zip Zap Circus, founded in Cape Town in 1992, is a vibrant and uniquely South African social and professional circus.

Through circus arts, they seek to inspire and empower youngster from all walks of life. The organisation also promotes social cohesion, creates opportunities, unlocks potential and transfers life skills, all at no cost to its young participant.

The Zappers, as the performing troupe in the youth programmes are affectionately known as, are made up of talented youngsters who have discovered a passion for the circus and have worked their way through the various stages of training.

The public will now get a chance to witness their talent as they entertain the crowd with their various acts.

Where: The Zip Zap Dome in the CBD.

When: Saturday, August 17, Sunday, August 18, as well as August 24, and August 25. Show times are at 12pm and 4pm on each day.

Aunty Rumba Rocks Cape Town

Jailoshini Naidoo, a well-known name in South African entertainment, is set to bring the laughs in her latest comedy act, Aunty Rumba Rocks Cape Town.

“Fans can look forward to an evening filled with laughter and entertainment, as she delivers her signature brand of humour,” the organisers explained.

The show will also feature performances by singing sensations Jani Punjab and Lloyd Paul.

Naidoo is no stranger to the comedy scene. She has spent much of the year entertaining audiences with her comedy show across the country, including in Johannesburg and Durban.

She is also renowned for her acting and presenting stints, including her portrayal of Nirupa in the e.tv soapie, “Imbewu: The Seed”.

The actress also set the screen alight in “Kandasamys” movie franchise where she played an overbearing mother, Jennifer Kandasamy.

Naidoo also expanded her creative repertoire with “Kandasamys: The Baby”. Not only did she reprise her role but she also contributed to the writing of the film, sharing credits with Jayan Moodley and Yugan Naidoo.

Join the esteemed performer as her alter-ego Aunty Rumba, who is affectionately known as Durban’s favourite aunty, acclaimed for her sharp wit and biting comedy, will leave the audience rolling with laughter.

The outspoken aunty came to life over a decade ago when Naidoo developed the fictional character after having fun, impromptu telephonic conversations with her friends.

After introducing Aunty Rumba during her comedy show “Curry on Laughing”, she took on a life on her own. She is now set to tickle the Mother City’s funny bone in a show which promise to be a great mix of comedy, song and dance.

Butterfly Walk

The Zoe Project is hosting a guided walk in a beautiful setting to raise awareness for the women and mothers it supports this Women’s Month.

The event invites everyone to join a morning of community and care, welcoming friends, family and even pets to participate.

Attendees are encouraged to show their support by wearing purple accessories or dressing up in butterfly wings or woodland creature costumes.

Firetruck Coffee will also be on hand to sell warm drinks and snacks to those participating.

The event aims to collect essential Care Package items for moms and babies in need. Donations for baby packs include baby growers, vests, receiving blankets, baby products and newborn nappies.

For mom packs, much-needed items include facecloths, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, maternity sanitary pads, deodorant and snacks.

The Zoe Project emphasised the importance of these contributions, which make a significant difference in the lives of the women and children they serve.

“The Zoe Project values the support of the community and encourages everyone to come out, participate, and contribute to this meaningful cause,” they said.
