East London – IBO lightweight champion Xolisani Ndongeni entered the ring dancing and ululating on Friday night.

Barely five minutes later he left the same way after savagely defeating Tanzania’s Emilio Norfat in a one-sided beat down at East London’s famed Orient Theatre.

The visitor offered no more than token resistance in this non-title affair as ”Nomeva” ripped into him from the start. The first time Norfat hit the canvas it was thanks to a short left hook. A booming right hand then ended the affair as he was sent crashing to the floor at the 60 secs mark of the opening round.

Trainer Colin Nathan, in Sweden for Ryno Liebenberg’s big fight, need not have worried about his absence. In his stead, trainers Vusi Mtolo and Bernie Peilman did an outstanding job preparing Ndongeni.

Norfat may have been the sacrificial lamb, but credit to Ndongeni for getting him out of there.

The champion took one look at his soft body at the weigh-in on Friday and reasoned that he had no business being in the ring with him.

He duly put a world of hurt on Norfat, ensuring that plans for a fight in Las Vegas in August are still on track.
