Hamburg – Boxing superstar Wladimir Klitschko could soon get a chance to complete his collection of boxing world title belts, in a World Boxing Federation (WBC) championship bout, German media reported Wednesday.

“Wladimir is a true boxing icon. The WBC fully and completely supports a federation fight,” WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman told the Sport Bild weekly.

Klitschko, 38, is the world champion of the IBF, WBO and WBA federations, knocking out Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev in the fifth round of his last title defence on Saturday.

The current WBC champion, Bermane Stiverne of Canada, will defend his title against American Deontay Wilder on January 17, and Klitschko could then fight the winner.

His brother, Vitali Klitschko, held the WBC belt until he vacated it late last year.

“I would like to bring the fourth title back to the family,” Wladimir Klitschko said. – Sapa-dpa
