Susan Turner, managing director of Knight Frank, says South Africa is globally the ninth largest producer and fifth largest exporter of table grapes, which remain one of the most important deciduous fruits grown in the country, considering foreign exchange earnings and employment creation.

“Table grape export numbers have been running higher year-on-year, with improved markets and diversification opportunities and the industry remains profitable and export-relevant.

“Competition from bidders for this opportunity will be high,” she adds. Knight Frank is facilitating the sealed-bid auction in association with Michael James Organisation. Auction registration commenced on August 4 and bidding will close at noon on August 31.
