Soon you will be able to do your banking on your television.
Standard Bank and MultiChoice have introduced television banking in South
Africa through a new interactive data channel available on DSTV.
The first step towards the development of a multi-functional financial
services television channel was the introduction of a new data channel last
week - Channel 142 - on DSTV.
At present, the channel, available at no extra cost, offers information on
Standard Bank`s products, rates, daily prices of Standard Bank unit trusts,
contact details and details of the bank`s sponsored events.
The interactive tools allow you to calculate your monthly home loan and car
loan repayments.
The data channel will be developed into a more comprehensive financial
services channel once the software technology becomes available.
Meanwhile, NBS is offering its customers the facility to do a range of
banking activities using a WAP-enabled cellular phone. WAP stands for
Wireless Application Protocol.
You can do multiple balance inquiries, money transfers, bill payments and
notify your bank about a lost card all via your cell phone.
