The Glenwood community has extended its condolences to the family of a youngster, found dead in a swimming pool, at the weekend.

Syanqoba Msweli, 4, went missing and posters were quickly shared far and wide on social media, pleading for assistance in reuniting the little lad with his family. As per the poster, he was last seen on Sunday morning, while playing in the garden at a home in Glenwood.

Ward councillor, Fran Kristopher, posted that the boy was found in a swimming pool.

"It is with great sadness that I have to post that the little boy who was missing from this morning in Glenwood was found this evening drowned in the swimming pool," the post read.

"A big thank you to everyone who joined the search party. Sad that the search ended so sadly. May this little angel RIP," she added.

The Umbilo Community Policing Forum also extended their deepest condolences to the family.

"Please keep the family in your prayers," the CPF added. 

Meanwhile, Eastern Cape police are searching for a missing teenager.

Fourteen-year-old Geraldino 'Dino' Malambo left his home in Pamplin Street and has not returned.

He was last seen wearing a pair of grey shorts and a navy-blue T-shirt with yellow sandals.

A missing person's case has been opened with the Mount Road Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS).

Anyone with information that could assist police in their search, is urged to call the SAPS Mount Road Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, Detective Constable Samantha Frost at 071 352 4684 or alternatively Crime Stop 08600 10111.
