The Chevrolet Lumina SS sedan and Ute have recieved the cosmetic and specification upgrades that were made to the Australian Holden Commodore models late last year, while also adopting the SSV badge.

The most notable external changes to the badge-engineered, Aussie-built Chevrolet take place at the front, where the Lumina features a revised bumper and air dam as well as new styling treatments for the fog lights and headlamps.

At the back, a chrome strip has been added to the boot lid just above the number plate on the sedan while the rear tailgate moulding on the Ute is now finished in body colour. The 18-inch alloy wheels also have a new design.

Moving inside, the design of the dashboard has been significantly revised and the audio system now joins the modern age, with a USB socket, touchscreen interface and Bluetooth connectivity.

Chevrolet has also added curtain airbags to the Lumina Ute, bringing it into line with the sedan and now earning it a maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating.

The heart that beats beneath the two remains unchanged, the 6-litre V8 pushing 270kW and 530Nm through the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Prices remain at R441 950 (auto) and R444 390 (manual) for the sedan, while both versions of the Ute cost R413 700. These prices include a three-year/60 000km service plan.
