When the number of fans on Porsche's Facebook account hit five million in February - little more than a year after it passed two million - the company invited those five million people to help design a one-of-a-kind commemorative car.

And this is the result.

Normally, with that many people throwing their ideas in the pot you'd expect it to look like a camel, which has been accurately if sarcastically described as a horse designed by a committee, but in this case the Stuttgart committee has done a remarkable job of pulling it all together.

UNIQUE 911 CARRERA 4S

This unique 911 Carrera 4S is embellished with Aerokit Cup furniture, including a deeper-than-standard front apron with spoiler lip, and a rear spoiler with a fixed wing. It's finished in metallic blue and runs 20” white rims, lowered suspension and marginally street-legal sports exhaust plumbing.

The specially engraved dashboard, door-panel and centre-console trim strips are finished in brushed aluminium, as is the PDK gear selector, the door sills (with blue backlighting!) and the foot pedals.

And no, Cyril, this is not a virtual creation - it's a real car. It's kept at the Porsche Experience Centre in Silverstone, where suitably qualified enthusiasts will be offered the opportunity to drive this very special car.
