Washington - Some groups that make up President Barack Obama's Democratic party base are expressing frustration with his first term.

Many liberals feel Obama gave in on the debt ceiling talks. Labor unions are frustrated with his handling of unemployment and labor issues. Hispanic groups are unhappy with some immigration policies.

Still, Obama faces no primary election opponent, and polls show him faring fairly well with his own party. His campaign dismisses doubts about liberal enthusiasm, calling such questions “nothing more than Washington chatter.”

The election is more than a year away. In the meantime, liberals want Obama to hold firm against Republicans this autumn and push a bold jobs agenda to boost the economy. - Sapa-AP
