After getting crowned as Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 on Saturday night, South African-born Chidimma Adetshina trended again, this time over her crown.

The Soweto-born Adetshina was invited to participate in the beauty pageant by Miss Universe Nigeria after being forced to withdraw from participating in Miss SA beauty pageant amid identity fraud allegations against her and her family.

Home Affairs got involved in this matter and conducted an investigation that indicated there may have been identity fraud activities involving Adetshina’s mother.

Adetshina was among 24 contestants who were chasing the Nigerian crown, representing Taraba State in the competition held at Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Victoria Island.

And just after a few days of being in the beauty pageant, Adetshina quickly led with votes that were over 10,000.

Even though it was a beautiful moment for Adetshina, as well as her fans and family, social media users found out that the crown looked very similar to one that is found on Temu’s website.

Temu is the largest online marketplace which sells heavily discounted consumer goods.

South Africans had their fair share of thoughts about the Miss Universe Nigeria crown, saying that you could pick up the same tiara for under R100.

X user, @Bokenza1 commented: “Watch how South Africans are going to mass buy this crown from Temu just to continue trolling Nigerians even more.”

Another X user, @_LeratoMabuzaM commented: “Chidimma Vanessa Adesthina’s crown is from Temu.”

X user @joy_zelda commented: “They bought the crown from Temu nge R76. The most cheapest one in the world, not even one ya R200.”
