The words “bungalow”, “cottage” and “village” were among the most popular keyword searches on the Zoopla property website in 2015.
Many are weighing up a move to the coast, with “sea view” also a notable search term, the company said.
London, Edinburgh and Bristol were the most searched for locations by Britons on its website this year, while there were also growing numbers of searches for homes in Glasgow and Leeds.
The combined value of Britain’s homes has leapt by an estimated £519-billion, over 2015 as the property market recovery has continued, Zoopla said.
