"How did he do that?" … if I said it once, I must have said it six or seven times as Phillipart, with his wide manic grin, white face and dazzling joker's costume, vanished and levitated his partner, Anja, in an amazing series of illusions.

How did she disappear from mid stage, mid air, and reappear at the back of the theatre, and how on earth did he bring a whole dance troupe out of a box scarcely big enough to hold a cat?

I dunno.

It's a sparkly, spangly, glittery, fast-paced show, just on one non-stop hour. Phillipart and Anja are tops, a world class show.

They were teamed with a rather mediocre singer, introduced as Hayley, Hot Like Me, accompanied by an energetic and well-choreographed troupe of show boys and girls in sparkling and suggestive costumes, far more suited to a casino show than a day-time family show in a theme park.

There are bangs and whooshes, flames and explosions, so if your kids are sensitive, be warned.

That said, Phillipart and Anja, a duo who hail from Monte Carlo, are well worth seeing.

Tickets can be bought from Computicket at R120, which, of course, includes all the rides and other entertainment at the park (normal entrance is R100). Tickets were also being sold at the door.
