The 19th annual SA Olive Awards will be held on 10th September 2024 at Franschhoek Cellar, a prestigious event that celebrates the finest Extra Virgin Olive Oils (EVOOs) in South Africa.

The awards, a cornerstone of the local olive oil industry, honour producers who excel in quality and taste, showcasing their dedication to creating exceptional South African EVOOs.

The judging process for the competition will take place from August 19- 24 at Klein Joostenberg, near Stellenbosch.

A panel of esteemed judges, including six local experts and an international olive industry specialist, will assess the entries blindly to ensure impartiality.

The top-scoring gold medalists will undergo an additional round of judging, where the best of the best will be selected for the coveted Absa Top 10 Awards, scheduled for October 2024.

Wendy Petersen, CEO of SA Olive, expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s awards, saying, “Our producers have had a tough year, facing low yields, challenges of supply and loadshedding. Despite these hurdles, they have never compromised on quality and their commitment to consumers. We fully expect to see more high-quality EVOOs at this year’s awards – ones that could potentially win international accolades as well.”
