Top 10 TV shows and films that influenced fashion trends in 2024

Whether it’s on a small or big screen, what we watch influences us and somehow influences how we dress. 

Fashion experts at Boohoo analysed data from Google Trends to determine which TV shows and films had the highest number of fashion-related searches.

“2024 has been a fantastic year for film and TV and it has been incredibly exciting to see people recreating some iconic fashion moments from different genres and periods,” said Boohoo’s fashion experts.

“It’s evident that film and TV are among the most dynamic forces shaping contemporary fashion and it will be exciting to see how this continues throughout future years.”

There is a tie between “Ripley” and “Challengers” as they are ranked number one with a 5,002 percent online search increase in the UK.

“Fallout” is in second place with an online search increase of 4,595 percent.

While the dystopian series is an unlikely fashion muse, searches for “Fallout fashion” soared in the UK following its release on Amazon Prime Video.

Securing the third spot is “My Lady Jane” with an online search increase of 4,466 percent in the UK.

Fans were more interested in the “16th-century fashion” and “Renaissance fashion” showcased in the romantic series.

“Dune: Part 2” is in fourth place, with an online search increase of 4,015 percent.

With fashion icon Zendaya starring in the film, the robotic jumpsuit she wore at one of the film’s premiere influenced the rise of metallic fashion pieces. As such, searches for “Dune fashion” and “Dune outfits” began to soar.

At number five is “Saltburn” with an online search increase of 3,932 percent. The film repopularised several iconic Y2K fashion trends, with searches for “2006 fashion” dominating in the UK, making “Saltburn” one of the biggest fashion inspirations of the year.

“One Day” is number six with an online search increase of 3,233 percent, followed by “The Gentlemen” with an online search of 2,717 percent.

“Emily in Paris” is in eighth place, with an online search increase of 2,662 percent, while “Bridgerton” secured ninth place with a 1,695 percent increase in fashion-related searches.

“Fool Me Once” is in tenth place, with a search increase of 1,578 percent.
