The sequel to the highly successful 4th wall breaking comic book film has more action, more jokes, more X-Men cameos and is way more fun.
Rating 4/5
Following the events of the first 'Deadpool' movie, the sequel picks up with Wade Wilson/Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) fully embracing his mutate abilities as the "Merc With a Mouth" is now a hero for hire. Killing bad guys left, right and centre for the right dollar amount.

This time around the focus is more on developing Wade Wilson as he deals with a traumatic event, and Ryan Reynolds has notably gotten more comfortable in the role, giving layers to the comedic character.
The supporting cast for 'Deadpool 2' have also been fleshed out, and every character — from Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) to the newly introduced Domino (Zazie Beetz) — are spitting out knee-slapping jokes.
The screenwriters pulled back on the 4th wall break, but when Deadpool does break it, it's utilised to great effect.
The fight scenes are also well done with the cinematographer and director, David Leitch, shooting it in such a way where every decapitation, gunshot and katana swipe is done in a beautifully violent manner.
The director also made an attempt at LGBTQI+ inclusion with Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) being lesbian but they are still only hinting at Wade Wilson being pansexual but at this point, its fine. The fact that FOX is introducing queer characters in the X-Men universe is welcomed and duly noted.
The MCU is 18 movies deep and I'm still waiting in anticipation for a single queer superhero to make an appearance.
In the film, they finally confirmed in a very smart way that while 'Deadpool' is an 18-rated franchise it does exist within the main X-Men universe. However, to be fair FOX has been very liberal when it comes to continuity with the X-Men universe.
'Deadpool 2' is a great time at the cinema and is hilarious from beginning to end. While the future of the franchise is up in the air since the acquisition of FOX by Disney, let's hope that they find a way to move Deadpool into the MCU.
Out of all the characters from the X-Men universe, he's the easiest to move into the MCU because of the nature of his character.
