Durban — An SANDF battalion in KwaZulu-Natal has intercepted vehicle smuggling and counterfeit goods and arrested undocumented persons in a string of recent successes.

Bravo Coy Operation Officer Lieutenant Blumears said that 6 South African Infantry Battalion took over from 121 South African Infantry Battalion and has significantly produced success in a series of incidents.

The company is deployed along the South Africa/Mozambique border as part of the border safeguarding Operation Corona.

Blumears said 6 South African Infantry Battalion Bravo Company members are deployed under Joint Tactical Headquarters KZN under the leadership of Captain RC Campher.

“These alert and sharp soldiers have carried out their mission by denying adversaries/syndicates who are smuggling stolen and hijacked vehicles from crossing the Republic of South Africa border illegally into Mozambique,” Blumears said.

“Bravo Company members in conjunction with Maritime Reaction Force over a period of three weeks of deployment have intercepted vehicle crossings including counterfeit goods and arrested 43 undocumented persons.”

“The total monetary value of success is R5 682 250,” Blumears said.
