Cape Town - The mother of six-month-old Ivakele Imvano Yeko, who was abducted in the Somerset West CBD last month, says she is praying every day for his return home.
Little Ivakele was taken from his nanny by an unknown woman under mysterious circumstances on December 5.
According to his mother, Asanda Yeko, the nanny, her husband, their seven-year-old daughter, and Ivakele had travelled to the Somerset West CBD that day.
She said they then stopped at a liquor store and spoke with the unknown woman.
“They had a conversation, and the woman told them that she loves kids.
“She asked if she could take them to buy them something to eat.
“She took the children, and that is how we lost my child. Only the seven-year-old returned home,” she said.
Yeko said she was struggling to cope.
“I am struggling to cope. I can’t sleep - I have to take depression pills every night. It’s almost a month now, and my child has not returned to me,” the mother said.
Police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi, said: “The circumstances surrounding the missing child in Somerset West are under investigation. Kindly be advised that the missing child cited in your enquiry is still reported as missing. The investigating officer in the matter is following up on all bits of information in a bid to reunite the boy with his parents.”
