Johannesburg -- South African white corn rose for the first time in seven sessions in Johannesburg trading.
White corn gained 0.1 percent to 1,965 rand a metric ton by the midday close on the South African Futures Exchange.
Yellow corn rose 0.1 percent to 2,097.20 rand a ton.
Cornmeal made out of the white variety is used to make a staple food known locally as pap, while the yellow type is mainly fed to animals.
Wheat dropped 0.2 percent to 4,020 rand a ton, the lowest since May 2. - Bloomberg News
